May and June News

Akzo Nobel Site Shoot

We were asked at the start of May by one of our partners to help them gather some shots for Akzo Nobel’s South Shields site both optical and thermal.

It was a great chance to show the capabilities of our UAVs. So after a complete risk assessment and method statement was completed we arrived on site. From this Akzo Nobel are now looking into using UAVs for drone inspection of their paint products on wind turbines.

Atkins Global

We recently contacted Atkins Global a leading inspection company about the use of drones within their business. We were invited along to do a presentation to show the benefits of drones and how they could compliment current inspection methods.

We are now putting together a proof of concept inspection on of their current projects, where we will be inspecting a bridge for them, this will be a great chance to show the drones at their best.

New Zoom Capabilities

So we recently acquired a new gimbal and camera for our inspire system especially for inspection purposes. This new camera and gimbal setup enables the inspire to have 30x optical zoom which is ideal for zooming in on anomalies instead of having to try to blow the picture up back at base.

The results have been promising, with clients commenting on how they now can more clearly see the anomalies and make better decisions on how to action what happens next.

Nepic Meet the Members Event

We recently attended Nepic Meet the Members event at Wynyard Hall. This was a great opportunity to meet other members of Nepic, and also showcase Rectrix Drone Services as the company to approach when looking to implement the use of drones within their businesses.

There was some great conversations, and we are now looking at moving a couple of projects forward, after some more meetings back at our office. The event was definitely worth the time and hopefully we will be back again next year to showcase some of the projects we developed and delivered.

AIS (Advanced Industrial Solutions) and RectrixAS Ltd Partnership

So we are delighted to announce that we have partnered with AIS to allow them to offer drone/UAV inspection and surveying services to the oil and gas, wind and construction industries. Together the companies will offer specialist services including visual surveys, thermal inspections and risk assessments using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) – or drone – for inaccessible places such as oil platforms or offshore wind turbines where it can be difficult, or costly, for engineers to safely reach.
